Full Product Description
Parker Chomerics SOFT-SHIELD® 4840 is an electrically conductive foam used for grounding of environmentally controlled applications. Consisting of silver-plated nylon fibers embedded into a low-density urethane foam, SOFT-SHIELD® 4840 is a low compression force gasket solution ideal for high volume applications such as consumer devices and industrial electronics. It is a more cost-effective version of the market leading SOFT-SHIELD® 4850, requiring lower compression forces but providing slightly lower conductivity (higher through resistance).
SOFT-SHIELD® 4840 is flammability rated to UL 94 V-0 with an operating temperature range of -40°C to 70°C. The optimized dispersion of conductive fibers within the foam matrix means that this material is electrically stable over many closure cycles which experiencing a low compression set (<15%). Provided with or without a conductive pressure sensitive adhesive, SOFT-SHIELD® 4840 is available in bulk rolls, cut sheets, or custom die cut shapes.
