A variable stator vane actuator – commonly shortened to stator vane actuator (SVA) is an actuator that controls the pitch of the stator vanes in an engine.
Inside engine turbines, a series of stationary blades known as stators eliminate vorticity of the incoming air that has just passed through compressor fans. The stator vane actuator (SVA) is an actuator that controls the pitch of these blades in order to curb air vorticity to desired levels. SVAs utilize dual-channel linear variable differential transformers (LVDTs) to provide position feedback to the engine electronic controller (EEC), while an electrohydraulic servo valve (EHSV) receives input from the EEC to change the actuator’s position.
APPLICATIONS: Gas turbine engines
FEATURES AND ATTRIBUTES:
• Use of linear variable differential transformer (LVDT) gives positional feedback for fine-tuned control of airflow
• The EHSV provides smooth movement of the actuator to modulate the valve
• Mechanical stops are used to prevent damage at end of stroke
