Item Information

Clean Diesel FBO Fuel Filter/Water Separator Series

Note: Descriptions are accurate at time of publication. Photos are representation only. Accessories and features shown in photo may not represent actual part number selected.

FBO filter assemblies are designed to meet the toughest industrial refueling conditions while providing easy cartridge change outs. The FBO assemblies can be used for a variety of applications including mobile refuelers, refueling cabinets, diesel fuel dispensing pumps and primary fuel filter/water separators for large diesel engines.

The assembly features a locking ring collar, which attaches the filter housing to the aluminum die-cast filter head with four bolts. The locking ring collar allows a single person to easily hand-loosen the four collar bolts, rotate, and lower the bowl assembly for element change outs. With new element installed, simply raise the bowl, rotate into position, and hand tighten evenly to complete the maintenance.

Three different cartridge types are available in 4 different micron ratings. Several FBO models are available including basic single units, pre-configured units, duplex units and heavy-duty standing units. FBO assemblies support a wide range of flow rates from 20 to 110 gpm depending on the model, type of element installed, and fuel type being filtered. FBO assemblies are also perfect for biofuel applications because of their ease of service, rugged construction, and optional electric heater.

Dual unit assemblies have isolation valves for running filter element changes. See Product Support tab for support literature.

How to select:

1. Select “Mounting” type to find the full array of FBO assemblies. Options are: order a Bracket Kit 73084 separately, include a mounting stand, include a bracket kit, or with a dual unit integral mounting bracket head.

2. Identify type of fuel to be filtered; diesel fuel or biodiesel, gasoline, or kerosene.

3. Choose the type of filter elements required for the job:

a. Water Separator Elements remove water and contaminants and are the most popular filter elements.
b. Silicone Treated Elements remove particle contaminants down to one micron and can be used upstream, before a fuel filter/water separator to extend filter life.
c. Water Absorber Elements absorb water and filter out contaminants from high flow fuel streams. These elements stop flow when too much water is absorbed.

4. Select the micron filtration efficiency of the media.

5. Identify maximum system flow rate needed.

a. Single FBO-10 assemblies flow 25 to 53 gpm depending on element type and fuel.
b. Single FBO-14 assemblies flow 30 to 75 gpm depending on element type and fuel.
c. The FBO-14-DPL is a dual assembly mounted on a pedestal with isolation valves that allow flow to be diverted while the filter element is replaced. Flow is twice the single assembly flow, or the same if the running element change feature is required.
d. The DFBO-14-IN assembly is a dual assembly on an integral mounting bracket head. The unit has a center mounted single handle isolation valve that allows flow to be diverted while the filter element is replaced. Flow is twice the single assembly flow, or the same if the running element change feature is required.

6. Decide if a differential pressure gauge is needed. (Recommended addition)

7. Choose available drain, heater, mounting, water sensor, and other options

8. Note that basic units do not come with an element installed. The right element for the application must be ordered separately.
