Item Information

The RA is a double‑acting rotary actuator with high torque and compact installation dimensions. The unit is available in 5 different sizes, covering a turning moment range of 20 to 200Nm. As standard, all sizes are available with a turning angle of either 90° or 180°. The actuator has double pistons and toothed piston rods in a rack‑and‑pinion type arrangement that transmits the turning moment to the output shaft. This type of construction gives an even turning moment throughout the rotation movement. The drive shaft is robustly supported in bushings of self‑lubricating plastic with a key way on the output end of the shaft. The opposite end of the shaft has a stub that can be used to accommodate end‑position indication, or to facilitate hand operation of the actuator. The turning limits of the rotary actuator should be determined by external stop lugs, in order to protect the unit from the effects of excessive load inertia. The RA rotary actuator has a cylinder block of natural anodised aluminium with end covers of black anodised aluminium. To facility ease of installation compressed air is fed into the piston chambers via the standardised connection arrangement to EURO standard according to ISO 5211, VDI/VDE 3845 and NAMUR on the side of the unit. Other design variants are available on request including single acting with spring return for 90° rotation, non standard turning angles and optional surface treatments.

Markets:
• Ventilation
• Air and Gas Compressors
• Entertainment Automation
• Agriculture Machinery
• Miscellaneous Industrial
• Oil and Gas
• Water
• Food & Beverage
• Lumber & Wood

Features/Benefits:

General Technical Data:
 • International Standards : Connection arrangements - EURO standard according to ISO 5211, VDI/VDE 3845 and NAMUR
 • Rotation Angles : 90° and 180°
 • Versions : Double acting / Single acting (Spring return)
 • Cushioning : N/A
 • Installation : Direct mounting
 • Mounting Position : Any

Operating and Environmental Data:
 • Operating Medium : For best possible service life and trouble-free operation dry, filtered compressed air to ISO 8573-1:2010 quality class 3.4.3 should be used. This specifies a dew point of +3°C for indoor operation (a lower dew point should be selected for minus temperature operation and we recommend the use of an inline dryer) and is in line with the air quality from most standard compressors with a standard filter.
 • Operating Pressure : 10 Bar maximum
 • Operating Temperature : Standard  temperature -20°C to +80°C
 • Pre-lubricated : Further lubrication is normally not necessary. If additional lubrication is introduced it must be continued.
 • Corrosion Resistance : High resistance to corrosion and chemicals.

Material Specification:
 • Body : Anodised aluminium
 • End covers : Anodised aluminium (Black)
 • Shaft : Zinc plated steel
 • End cover screws : Zinc plated steel
 • Seals : NBR (Nitrile rubber)
 • Piston bearings : POM (Polyoxymethylene)
 • Shaft Bearings : Polyethylene / MoS2 (Molybdenum disulfide)
