The oxygen sensor measures the amount of oxygen in a possible oxygen-nitrogen mixture supplied to the fuel tanks. This is a combined sensor giving output of both O2 and pressure.
The oxygen sensor is used to measure oxygen concentration and pressure in nitrogen-enriched air supplied by the fuel tank inerting system in to the fuel tanks. These measurements are used for fuel tank inerting system health monitoring.
The oxygen sensor is a solid-state electronic sensor, responsive to the concentration of oxygen and the total pressure of a sampled gas. In operation, the sensor is connected to the power supply and monitoring circuit via the electrical connector, and the gas sample is supplied via the pressure connector. Gas flowing into the sensor is vented to ambient through the vent port on the side of the sensor.
The sensor provides a primary-output current that is linearly proportional to O2 concentration over the measurement range, while a secondary-output circuit conveys the total pressure output.
The sensor is designed to include signal filtering, EMC and lightning protection in order to meet high EMC and HIRF requirements that fuel tank inerting system is exposed to.
