Item Information

Macrospray nozzles, designed and manufactured by the Parker Aerospace Gas Turbine Fuel Systems Division, provide enhanced performance at significantly reduced installation and life-cycle costs.

Using hydraulic pressure only, Macrospray technology allows the production of very fine atomized sprays without the added cost and complexity of air compressor assistance. Nozzle passages are designed to minimize pressure drop, conserving mechanical or pressure energy up to the exit orifice. These nozzles can be designed to integrate into almost any housing, in a wide range of spray configurations. Digital tooling makes custom products possible; and when needed, controls, sensors, pumps, and packaging can be incorporated into an entire spray system solution.

This innovative Macrospray technology is also found in fuel spray nozzles of aero engines in service today. These Parker nozzles contribute to engine emissions reductions resulting in low-smoke, low-NOx, and low-CO emissions.

Parker's single-point nozzles — designed to easily replace conventional pressure-swirl and impact-type nozzles — offer smaller droplets, repeatable droplet dispersion patterns, and more uniform spray patterns.

These nozzles provide better performance at lower operating pressures, larger flow passages, smaller packages for hard-to-reach applications, and more robust and consistent performance than conventional nozzles.

In addition, they include integral filters for reduced maintenance and longer life and are available in a wide range of flow capacities and mounting configurations.

MACROLAMINATION TECHNOLOGY
Parker's proprietary macrolamination technology utilizes digital tooling for the precise placement of critical geometries essential for good spray performance. These geometries are chemically machined into layers, providing smooth, efficient flow passages. They also allow complex or multiple flow circuits to be produced more economically than other processes allow. The layers are then joined in a proprietary process, forming a monolithic structure with the joints as strong as the parent material.

Current injector geometries include:
• Cylinders
• Cones
• Rings
• Spray matrices
• Tubes
• Bars
• Plates
• Multi injection point/spiders
• Integrated manifolds

BENEFITS
• High turn-down ratios: Finest quality spray performance at operating pressures ranging from 25 psi to 3000 psi
• Spray performance: The smallest & most uniform “droplet-to-droplet” size on the market
• Efficiency: Efficient flow geometries produce the smallest droplets at a given operating pressure for effective interaction between the droplet and the surrounding environment
• Elegant system requirements: Low operation energy system costs & no “air assist” equipment necessary (operate at low pressures = smaller pumps, etc.)
• High repeatability: Macrolamination (joining of metallic layers to nearly parent metal strength) eliminates a mechanical assembly, reducing piece-to-piece variation
• Longer life: Macrospray design enables more seamless flow passages for longer life
• Compact size: Uniquely packaging the smallest physical pressure swirl atomizer available on market will protect our customers' MRO business for them (difficult 2nd sourcing)
• Multiple injection points: Capability to produce multiple injection points easily through the use of layers and digital tooling
• Innovative shapes & complex fluid paths: Devices ranging from single-point sprays, to strips with multiple sprays to multi-fluid manifolds to multi-circuited panels with hundreds of spray points (not achievable via conventional technology)
