Item Information

Solid particulates and free water are practically unavoidable in diesel fuel and gasoline. Their presence often leads to the formation of bacteria, corrosive acids, and rust, which can cause plugged filters, damaged components, decreased combustion efficiency, and engine downtime.
Racor Prefilters install quickly and help protect engines and extend on-board filtration system life by removing water and contaminants from fuel, including sand, dirt, and silica. Racor offers two models of prefilter/strainer, both of which are available in a wide range of configurations to meet the unique requirements of customers’ engines:

025 Series – 025 Series fuel prefilters are the first line of defense in protecting against engine damage by keeping fuel clean and dry. These small strainers/prefilters feature a heavy-duty die-cast aluminum mounting head, a ~250 micron cleanable nylon mesh screen (or 10 micron Aquabloc® filter), and a reusable see-thru water and sediment collection bowl. Aquabloc® is Racor’s high-efficiency filtration media. It is waterproof and rustproof and incorporates pleat-spacing corrugations and a graduated pore structure to increase dirt-holding capacity and extend filter life

Typical applications for the 025 Series include small generator sets, snow machines, lawnmowers, pressure washers, and small diesel and gasoline engines with fuel flows up to 25 gph (gasoline).
PS120 Series - From personal watercraft to agricultural equipment, the PS120 Series high-flow strainer/prefilter is designed to protect fuel pumps, carburetors, injectors, and related fuel system components. These strainer/prefilters feature a heavy-duty die-cast aluminum mounting head with four ports. They have a ~250 micron cleanable nylon mesh screen and reusable see-thru water and sediment collection bowl for fuel flows up to 120 gph (diesel).
The PS120 Series is ideal for equipment in environments with severe contamination and must be installed prior to, and in conjunction with a Racor fuel filter/water separator. Strainers remove large droplets of free water and contaminants down to 200 micron.
Notes on use:
• Mesh screen cleaning/replacement frequency is determined by contamination level in fuels. Fuel flow to engine becomes restricted as the mesh screen gradually plugs with contaminants, resulting in noticeable power loss and/ or hard starting. As a guideline, clean screen every 500 hours, 10,000 miles, every other oil change, annually, or at first indication of power loss (whichever occurs first).
• Replace if mesh screen is damaged.
• Always carry extra replacement screens and fuel filters as one full tank of excessively dirty fuel can quickly plug a prefilter and a fuel filter/water separator filter.
Markets:
• Agriculture
• Construction
• Power Generation
• Oil and Gas
• Recreational Vehicles
• Small Engines (lawnmowers, snow machines, ATVs, chainsaws, etc.)

Applications:

• 025 Series: Small engines (ATVs, tractors, gensets, etc.)
• PS120 Series: Gasoline and Diesel Engines (Land or Marine)

Benefits:
• Removes water and solid particulates present in stored fuel. Any water present in the fuel stream will support bacterial growth, which can cause clogged filters and result in the formation of corrosive acids. Susceptible components then rust and corrode, leading to erosion and wear of critical fuel system components.
• Prevents costly injector damage and increases operational life of downstream filters.
• Saves time and money by eliminating unplanned maintenance and unscheduled downtime from system component failure.
Features:
025 Series (Rac-01 and-RAC-02)

• ¼”-18 NPTF Ports
• 15 gph (57 lph) with diesel
• 25 gph (95 lph) with gasoline
• Easy cartridge element, spin-on bowl servicing
• Proprietary Aquabloc® filter available on RAC-02 version

PS120 Series (01 and 02)
• 1/2” NPTF Ports on PS120-01
• SAE J476 3/8" NPTF Ports on PS120-02
• 4-port aluminum mounting head
• ~250 micron cleanable nylon mesh screen filter
• Removes large droplets of water and sediment
• Extends downstream filter life
