Vent Valve for EV Batteries, CliPHvent

Parker's CliPHvent pressure relief valves protect housings against mechanical damage that may occur in the event of pressure differences between the interior of the housing and the environment. They also seal against external liquids and dirt.

Full Product Description

Hermetically sealed housings are not always advantageous. Housings with larger volumes are particularly prone to pressure differences that may be caused merely by ambient temperature or air pressure changes. Such pressure differences may pose a risk to the mechanical stability of the housing. To prevent deformation or other kind of damage, the housing must either be designed for greater stability or be protected by a special pressure relief system.

Not only minor pressure variations but also sudden pressure increases due to component defects jeopardize the mechanical stability of a housing and thus its surroundings. For instance, such pressure increases may occur in the event of a thermal runaway of battery cells and the related sudden gas development. They may lead to uncontrolled bursting of the housing.

Parker’s CliPHvent pressure relief valves enabling controlled pressure compensation between the interior of a housing and the environment have been developed to prevent this and to protect housings against damage.

CliPHvent pressure relief valves operate with elastomer membranes specifically developed for this purpose. In the event of a pressure difference between the interior of a housing and the environment, particularly a fast increase of pressure inside the housing, the membrane opens and thus enables a rapid pressure reduction. Once pressure compensation has occurred, the membrane closes again and reliably seals the housing against the environment.

For compensation of minor pressure differences between the interior of the housing and the environment that may occur due to air pressure or temperature changes, CliPHvent pressure compensation valves that are additionally equipped with water- and oil-repellent Parker aspire® venting membranes are available.

The special design of CliPHvent pressure relief / pressure compensation valves enables easy installation and protection against ambient influences.
