The turbine clearance control valve (TCCV) modulates the flow of cooling air into turbine tip clearance control systems in gas turbine engines.
A turbine case cooling system provides cooling air to turbine engine cases in order to manage the clearance or gap that grows as a result of thermal expansion. Minimizing this gap results in maximized efficiency and minimized fuel consumption.
Within the case cooling system, a turbine clearance control valve (TCCV) modulates the flow of bleed air from the engine’s compressor across the engine case in order to cool the casing and control the clearance. The valve is failsafe open and operated by pneumatic servo pressure applied by a solenoid.
APPLICATIONS: Commercial aircraft engines
FEATURES AND ATTRIBUTES:
• Forged aluminum alloy body allows for lightweight construction
• Aluminum piston used to reduce weight and cost
• Valve elements can be resized to tailor flow
• Replaceable shaft-guide bushing allows ease of replacement, thus creating a longer part life
• Plug end of shaft has secondary function of bushing retention
