Transient Bleed Valve

A transient bleed valve (TBV) is used to expand the stall margin of a turbine engine’s compressor by controlling the outlet of bleed air from the engine’s compressor.

Technical Specifications

  • Weight: Starting at 10.0 lbs. (4.5 kg)
  • Materials of Construction: 17-4 PH CRES, Inconel 718
  • Maximum Operating Temperature: Rated for 827 °C (1100 K) bleed air temperature °C
  • Vane Type: Up to 4 inch (10.2 cm) vane diameter
Safety Warning

Full Product Description

The transient bleed valve (TBV) controls the bleed air amount of the last stage of the high-pressure compressor (HPC) to expand the stall margin of the HPC during engine starting and rapid acceleration. The TBV is a fuel-powered, two-position (failsafe open), butterfly-type air valve whose position is controlled by a remote solenoid. A dual-channel transducer in the actuator can provide feedback on the displacement and feedback to the engine electronic computer (EEC) to monitor the actuator’s position.

APPLICATIONS:
Commercial aircraft

FEATURES AND ATTRIBUTES:
• Effective control of bleed air from engine compressor
• Bearings construction is ceramic and stainless steel.
• Vane sleeve construction is ceramic.

OPTIONAL FEATURES:
Implementation of LVDT transducer can provide feedback to EEC on actuator position.
