Parker Aerospace’s Hydraulic Systems Division (HSD) pioneered the systems approach for aircraft hydraulic system development on the Bombardier Global Express aircraft in 1994. Previous hydraulic systems were specified as a collection of independent components from various suppliers.
Parker HSD provides integrated hydraulic system solutions by leveraging the complete portfolio of Parker hydraulic system components. Parker’s capabilities range from working with the customer’s development team in creating system architecture, requirements, system analysis & simulation, to certification of the systems. Our experience ranges globally, with our teams interfacing with all international aviation authorities.
HSD has been integral in certifying numerous platforms. From actuators to hydraulic pumps and all storage, conditioning, and conveyance equipment in between, Parker Aerospace offers the unique ability of providing the system service as well as associated components. Also, HSD provides electronic controls and logic software that interface with the aircraft, resulting in monitoring and control of the aircraft’s hydraulic systems. HSD has the experience required for successful development and certification of the aircraft hydraulic system from a single source.
In addition to a complete bill of material and the comprehensive development approach, Parker HSD provides air frame developers the ability to analyze weight, performance, testing, and certification at the system level. The complexity of iterating through design trade-offs across a diverse supplier base is eliminated.
In support of system certification as well as aircraft system reliability improvements, HSD will commonly develop in-house hydraulic system test rigs which are representative of the system when installed in the aircraft. Our integrated rigs are typically environmentally controlled, providing performance characteristics of the systems at temperature extremes.
More recently, Parker HSD has developed the capability of analyzing a system for noise, as well as make recommendations on how to manage or reduce system noise. This ability is applied to systems developed by Parker and offered as a noise management service assisting customers to control the sound environment of their aircraft platform.
