Heatric Printed Circuit Heat Exchangers (PCHEs) are manufactured using a specialised solid-state joining process known as ‘diffusion-bonding’. This creates a core with no joints, welds or other potential points of failure. The resulting unit combines exceptional strength and integrity with high efficiency and performance.
By incorporating diffusion bonding with micro-channel technology, Heatric manufactures units that are up to 85% smaller and lighter than traditional technologies such as shell and tube heat exchangers. This reduction in size can lead to significant savings in structural costs due to elimination of excess pipework, frames and associated equipment.
Heatric PCHEs are proven technology having worked in the upstream hydrocarbon processing, petrochemical, and refining industries for many years. Thousands of Heatric exchangers are in operation in both onshore and offshore applications.
The advanced performance of PCHEs makes them ideal for a range of demanding applications. By utilising the benefits of this technology, Heatric continues to develop heat transfer solutions for a wide range of market sectors.
Benefits of a Heatric PCHE
• Robustness: High integrity plate type exchangers
• Safety: No catastrophic failure mode, constructed from
100% fire resistant materials. No requirement for over pressure relief and not susceptible to vibration
• Compact: Up to 85% smaller than equivalent shell & tube
• Pressure capability: in excess of 700 bar
• Temperature: Cryogenic to 900°C
• Process optimisation – close temperature approach to 2°C
• High effectiveness with up to 4-stream capability & two-phase inlet
• High purity streams: no braze alloy or gaskets
• Flexibility: no restrictions on fluid pressure drop
