Parker's Sure Torque manway gasket design will improve system performance, simplify assembly and lower your total system cost. Featuring an over-molded stainless steel compression limiter, The Sure Torque manway gasket comes in a number of specially engineered compounds – including Parker's FKM which is generally recommended for the transport of crude oil. The highly efficient and rugged design of the Sure Torque manway gasket provides unparalleled value and safety. No other gasket performs as well, as long or provides the exponential system savings.

Parker's Sure Torque manway gasket has the following benefits:

• Eliminates 95% of the leading causes of Non-Accident Releases (NARs):
• Stainless-Steel Compression Control:
o Approved for impact wrenches
o No need to re-torque – resulting in less labor hours, less incidence of injury, and less time exposed to the elements
o No over-torqueing possible – preventing the potential of ruptured gaskets which results in less tank car maintenance repairs
o Impossible to drop into the tank car – no need to “fish” out gaskets
• Geometrically designed seal:
o Long life (tested up to 30 uses)
o Easy replacement/ no residue to scrape off/ no damage to nozzle

When transporting crude oil, Parker recommends its specially engineered FKM VW450-65 (blue) as the elastomer material of choice. FKM materials have good chemical resistance to hydrocarbons such as oil, fuels, synthetic hydraulic fluids, aromatics, and many organic solvents. In addition to its chemical resistance, FKM has excellent resistance to oxygen and ozone attack that could occur during the transport of goods.
• When to select other FKM elastomers:
o When amines or amine-donor stabilizers are present, then the VB486-65 (green) or VG490-70 (red) FKM might be considered.
o When there could be the presence of methanol, then the VG490-70 (red) FKM would be recommended.
o When there could be the presence of toluene or sulfuric acid, then the VB486-65 (green) or VG490-70 (red) FKM might be considered.

• When transporting crude oil, the 304 stainless steel is Parker's recommended insert of choice. The 304 stainless steel offers good corrosion resistance along with the needed mechanical properties to ensure bolt torque retention during transit when utilizing the bolt manufacturers bolt torque recommendations.
• When to select the 316 stainless steel:
o When additional corrosion resistance is needed.
